Hello Everyone!
Happy New Year! The days and weeks fly by, we’re already halfway through January. One of my resolutions this year is to be present in the moment. I have so much going on and so many hats to juggle that I need to ground myself in today. It’s hard to do, but I’m trying.
I had the pleasure of speaking to my MOPS group today about creating godly friendships. I promised that I’d post all of the quotes and verses that I used, so that’s what you’ll find here.
“The only way to have a friend is to be one.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Imitating Christ is opening the door to friendship.” – Billy Graham
“Treat others just as you want to be treated.” – Luke 6:31
How to Create Godly Friendships:
· Be Authentic
· Be Realistic
· Be Brave
· Be Thoughtful
· Be Truthful: Communicate
o “Love should always make us tell the truth. Then we will grow in every way and be more like Christ, the head of the body. Christ holds it together and makes all of its parts work perfectly, as it grows and becomes strong because of love.” – Ephesians 4:15-16 CEV
· Be Loyal: Have a No-Gossip Policy
o “A perverse person stirs up conflict, and a gossip separates close friends.” – Proverbs 16:28
· Be a Sharpener:
o “Just as iron sharpens iron, friends sharpen the minds of each other.” – Proverbs 27:17
· Be Your Husband’s Best Friend
“Wishing to be friends is quick work, but friendship is slow-ripening fruit.” – Aristotle
I’m so grateful that God wired us for relationships, that He gives us friends to do life with! Aren’t you?
