“The way to get to the top is to get off your bottom.”

Or out of bed, as the case may be. Yesterday the funniest thing happened to me.
I went to bed Sunday night with my alarm set for 6:15 AM. When it went off, I was in such a deep sleep that I turned it off, rolled over and fell back asleep. Awhile later, I woke up to check the clock and it said 7:20! I literally jumped out of bed, as we leave to take Lila to school at 7:50. She was still sleeping since I didn’t get her up and we’d have to rush out the door.
I made my way to the kitchen and noticed that it was still pretty dark for 7:20. As I approached the clock on the oven, it read 6:23, as did the microwave clock.
Somehow my alarm clock advanced an hour in the middle of the night! My husband promises he didn’t pull a prank on me. Although, I have my doubts: he gives me a hard time because I always set the clocks five minutes fast to help keep me on time, and says that one day he’s going to change it on me to mess me up. Haha.
I always struggle to get up on time, I’m a night owl but know that I should try to become a morning person. The clock advancing an hour really did the trick! I truly believe God has a sense of humor and I have a feeling that He was up to something. 😉
So, instead of frantically rushing to get everyone ready, I made a chai latte and read my Bible before anyone else was up. It was just the sweet inspiration I needed to keep striving for this early quiet time every day. Not to mention, that I felt productive the rest of the day.
So today, I got up early enough to have my quiet time and write this post.
I’m also trying to get to bed earlier so that I can get up earlier. It’s so hard to do, but I know it’s a discipline I need to have in my life. Even if it means that I don’t get something done in the evening because I’m going to bed early/on time, it’s okay. Because I’ve realized that taking care of myself enables me to better take care of others. Would you agree?
Happy Tuesday, friends!
