Hi Everyone!
I love October, don’t you? Here are a few of the reasons I love it so:
· October is for pumpkins! I love the smell and taste of pumpkin anything.
· Halloween! I have some awesome childhood Halloween memories. One of my favorites was when my friend (who I’ll leave unnamed) and I went trick-or-treating while wearing our pajamas and our orthodontic headgear.
· It’s my birthday month! I can’t help but love all of the coupons and perks that come with a birthday, like a free meal at one of my favorite restaurants, Joe’s Real BBQ.
I had a birthday last week and truly appreciated all of the phone calls, texts and Facebook messages I received. I spent the day with my family; Lila was off of school and Will took the day off from work.
I spent a lot of the day reflecting, being thankful for another year of life and all of God’s grace and blessings. I thought a lot about my past birthdays and all that I’ve learned along the way. I’m thankful for the amazing people He’s put in my life. I’m thankful for experiences I’ve had and that He works all things for the good of those who love Him.
I realized that I need to be thankful for these things more than on big occasions, like birthdays and Thanksgiving. I’m trying to slow down and cherish the moment. It’s so easy to always be looking forward, looking backward or looking at your iPhone, that you miss the present. With so much to do and what seems like not enough time, it’s difficult to make the most of the time we have. At least it is for me for sometimes.
So today, let’s be present and be thankful. Let’s spend more time doing the things we love with the people we love. I’m thankful that you stopped by the blog today!
Your friend with headgear sounds like a total nerd! <3
