I heard Michael Hyatt tell this story on his podcast several years ago:
One morning he walked downstairs, just like he did every single day. Except this particular day, he slipped and broke his ankle!
Understandably, he felt frustrated. He struggled with his inner critic that scolded himself for not being careful. He was mad that his life would now be more difficult, as he couldn’t walk around easily in his cast, including going up and down the stairs. He had to hobble around on crutches and camp out in his living room.
Eventually, he asked himself this question: “What does this make possible?”
He realized that being forced to lay low provided the opportunity for rest, for reading, and for idea generating. He came out of that season with a renewed perspective.
During this COVID-19 pandemic, so much has stopped, so much has been forced to change. Including my plans for Restore: Soul Care for Moms 2020!
I had originally planned it for May 15th. I booked the venue. I booked another speaker. I had started to look at catering options, vendors and sponsors.
Shortly after all this, everything changed. Not knowing when things will be back to business as usual, I made the decision a few weeks ago to cancel the venue so that I wouldn’t be out that cost.
Instead of being mad and frustrated, I decided to ask myself the same question Michael Hyatt asked when he broke his ankle: “What does this make possible?”
I’m happy to announce that Restore 2020 will continue, but virtually! I’m also going to offer it absolutely free! I hope you’ll attend and will invite your friends!
I’m working on the technological logistics of how it will work and will announce registration details next week!
With the virtual conference, I’m still able to have sponsors. If you have an online business and would be interested in sponsoring, please let me know. 😊
